Being in a motor vehicle accident is one of the most terrifying and difficult experiences someone may live through.  Not only is the stress of having to deal with the logistics of the cars and insurance a challenge but now to have both physical and emotional damages on top of that makes recovering a difficult process.

While these accidents are never expected, it is important to know what to do after an accident so that you can not suffer from the pain that may have been inflicted by the accident.  Seeing a chiropractor who specializes in auto injury cases is one of the first steps one should take.

The chiropractor can provide you with a comprehensive evaluation to determine what issues and areas of the body have been affected by the accident to establish the best plan of care for you while properly documenting these changes for insurance coverage.

Even though many accidents are at lower speeds, the force impact of any accident can easily cause symptoms related to whiplash at speeds as slow as walking. The speed of the injury does not correlate with the extent of the injuries that may have been sustained.

Seeing the right chiropractor will ensure that you are provided the correct plan of care based on your symptoms and assessment while providing you with the necessary treatment and services to enhance your recovery and not take advantage of any medical coverage support you may have.

In the state of Colorado, many drivers have MedPay on the insurance plan, which allows anyone involved in the accident to seek medical coverage while the logistics of the accident are being settled and resolved so that you do not have to suffer and wait.

This is regardless of who is at fault and something that, if selected, you have access to use through your insurance so that you can get care at no cost to you.  Call your agent today to find out how much MedPay coverage you may have to put toward your auto injury recovery plan.

So let us help you find the relief and care you need after your Auto Accident.

FAQs About MED-PAY??

Med Pay is a part of your auto insurance policy that pays any medical bills following an auto-related accident. Med-Pay covers any accident in which a vehicle is related (i.e. pedestrian hit by car, bike rider hit by car, airplane accidents, etc…).

It also covers any passengers in your vehicle. Each individual involved in the accident is entitled to the entire amount of medical pay on their policy regardless of whose fault it is (check with your agent to see what your minimum coverage is, it usually is starting at $5,000). This money is there to protect you and get you the recovery care you deserve, no matter the circumstances.

Colorado law states that every insurance plan covers at least $5000.00 of med-pay unless the insured signs away their medical payments benefits, which we would not recommend. Many auto insurance companies will try to persuade you to sign away these benefits to help reduce your monthly premium and by telling you that your health insurance will cover you if you are in an accident.

The change in premiums is negligible for the amount of coverage you get with Med Pay and we always suggest everyone has the minimum amount to account for these accidents

Does my MedPay get deducted from my settlement?

No. Medical payments are made by your insurance regardless of who is at fault. MedPay is part of the services that you pay for with your premium and cannot be reimbursed back to your insurance company out of any future settlement you may have.

This again stands for Medical Payments and is a resource allocated for you to receive care while a settlement is being determined and does not allow insurance companies to take reimbursement back from your settlement.

Why should I have MedPay?

First, it will cover more care options than your health insurance (chiropractic, hospital, massage, office visits, emergency room) and does not have co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurance costs.

Second, MedPay is available immediately, which allows you to get access to treatment as soon as possible and with no out-of-pocket cost following your accident.

This is critical for helping you feel better and heal from injuries you may have sustained from the accident while a settlement or case is being generated.  This is also critical for any record-keeping or and exam findings that may be needed for litigation and processing in the future.

If you need an attorney after your accident Live Loud Chiropractic can recommend a reputable personal injury attorney in the area.

Over the years we have worked with the best lawyers in the community that will support you and get you the legal advice you need for you auto injury case.

I have health insurance; why do I need MedPay?

It differs from health insurance in that there is no deductible or co-pay and you can choose your own doctor. Med-pay may be used for medical services such as chiropractic, pain management, massage, hospital bills, ambulance, etc.

Who is covered by Med Pay?

Medical Payments will cover anyone involved in an accident with an automobile. So that could mean you were in an auto accident with another vehicle, could be a pedestrian or bicycle that was struck by a vehicle, or you may have hit a stationary object like a wall or median while in your vehicle. Med pay will also cover everyone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Can I use medical payments if I was at fault in the auto accident?

If you are the at-fault driver in an auto accident, you can still use your med pay. This is one of the great benefits of medical payments. In an auto accident, someone is usually at fault, but they will still need care and may have many medical expenses.

Without med pay, your health insurance would be used and your coverage would be based on your policy. You would be responsible for any deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance, or out-of-pocket costs.

Who will bill my MedPay to ensure coverage for medical costs?

Our office will facilitate the billing and medical coverage with the information you provide about your accident. As one of the top rated chiropractors in Boulder County and Lafayette Colorado, we aim to ensure you are fully supported and taken care of in the challenging and stressful time.
